Golf & Safari

The package we will organize for you will be tailored to your personal needs and interests. This means that every trip will be different, which makes it hard to provide a sample trip itinerary. Nevertheless, in order to inspire you, we will try to give you some useful ideas. This example is based on a 15 day Golf & Safari experience. You will travel with your own group and a personal guide, driving a 4WD safari vehicle. 

Golf and Safari Tanzania

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Today you will arrive in Tanzania. A representative of Makasa will pick you up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and will bring you to Arusha where your Tanzanian Golfing adventure starts.

Day 2 and 3: Kilimanjaro Golf

The golf course at Kilimanjaro Golf and Wildlife Estate is the first 18-hole championship golf course in Tanzania and is up to par with the most demanding international guidelines. Surrounded by astonishing natural beauty and spectacular views, it is a one of its kind experience with dramatic backdrops, challenging holes, fairways meandering through ponds and streams and all the comfort and service imaginable on offer. Step outside of your villa, meet up with your personal caddy and tee off to start an unforgettable experience. For those who are not in to the whole golf experience we have enough alternatives. Enjoy a variety of treatments and relaxing body massages at the wellness center of Siringit, enjoy a horseback safari off the beaten path, or a jeep safari in Arusha National Park.

Day 4: Tarangire National Park

Today your safari starts in Tarangire National Park. This magnificent  area is characterized by rolling country, the gorge (a deeply embedded river) which seldom runs dry, small swamps, acacias and the enormous baobab trees. The game park has a relatively large population of African elephants. There are also buffalos, cheetahs, hyenas and lions to be seen. In the dry season the animals assemble at the marshes for fresh drinking-water. We can assure you that this is a grandiose spectacle.

Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

Today we will drive to Serengeti National Park. In the afternoon you will arrive in the park.

Day 6 and 7: Serengeti National Park

We will spend two full days in Serengeti National Park. Serengeti National Park gets its name from the Maasai word Siringitu meaning endless Plain. The Serengeti is located along the rift valley and is abound with geological formations. One of Serengeti’s defining features are its Kopjes pronounced copy, a feature of continual weathering. These islands in the sea of grass are formed as the top soil comprising of rock and ash is eroded exposing the covered layer of metamorphic rock. These exposed rock forms “kopjes” are round as a result of spherical wind weathering. The national park covers an area of 14800 square kilometers most of which is grass plains. These rich grass plains a result of ash deposited by volcanic eruptions, and is home to 3 million animals. Within these grass plains the scattered kopjes act as a heaven for animals from grass fires, predators and the heat. The game drives in this park are exceptional and game viewing incredible.  This park offers the best opportunity of viewing Cheetah, Leopards and Lions.

Day 8: Transfer to Karatu

In the morning there will be still some time to enjoy Serengeti National Park. In the late morning you will drive to Karatu.

Day 9: Ngorongoro crater

In the morning we will drive to the crater. Ngorongoro is a unique crater known as a Caldera.  A Caldera is the aftereffect of a volcanic collapse, an implosion rather than explosion, Ngorongoro was formed some two million years ago.  The Ngorongoro is found within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area authority and ecologically it covers an area of 8300 square Kilometers with varied terrain and altitudes. These variations result in diverse and distinct habitats from grassy plains to montane forest.  The Crater itself measures an average of 18 Kilometers in diameter and approximately 700 meter vertical drop.  Apart from being home to 25000 large animals it forms part of what is known as the Serengeti-Ngorongoro-Maasai Mara ecosystem.  This ecosystem allows for the free movement of 1.5 million animals in their continuous search for green pastures known as the migration.  The crater is one of the prime areas to observe the endangered Black rhino and black manned Lions. The end of the day we drive out of the crater.

Day 10 - 14: Golf on Zanzibar

Today you will drive from Karatu to Kilimanjaro Airport. From here you will fly to the tropical island Zanzibar. Zanzibar is an island off the east coast of Tanzania. This magnificent island has pearl white beaches, a clear blue sea and pleasant temperatures that fluctuate between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius. A driver is waiting for you at the airport and will bring you to your hotel. You will stay here for 5 nights. Here your Tanzanian Golfing Adventure will continue. This magnificent course consists of an undercover driving range, practice greens, 9 holes, 18 tees, golf carts and clubs to hire. A qualified PGA Golf Instructor is also on hand for any tuition and tips. You make your own schedule and can decide how often you will play during these days. Zanzibar has many things to offer besides golf. The resort offers a number of activities for the energetic, including a fully equipped gym, two tennis courts, a volleyball court, a squash court and bicycles for rides through the coconut plantation. There is also a water sports center offering a wide range of activities including water skiing, sailing and more.

Day 15: Flight to Dar es Salaam

A driver will bring you to Zanzibar airport. From here you will fly to Dar es Salaam Airport. From Dar es Salaam you will fly back home.
